To gain an understanding of surrogacy success rates, we first need to explain the challenges in measuring the success rates of assisted reproductive technology (ART). While ART is instrumental in helping intended parents overcome infertility, it can also present health risks and occasional pregnancy complications, such as multiple births. Because of these risks, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) monitors ART procedures that have been performed in the U.S.
However, be cautious about taking official reports at face value. Published clinic statistics are often not accurate due to various reasons. We work with many clinics and can guide you toward the ones with which we've experienced the most success and the smoothest journeys.
All ART cycles performed in the US should be reported to the CDC, however, not every clinic does this. Unfortunately, some less-than-reputable clinics only present favorable results, instead of submitting all the necessary information. This clinic behavior also causes the CDC to do yearly audits and site visits for clinics that offer ART cycles. That’s why it’s crucial that as an intended parent, surrogate, or even egg donor, you seek an agency and clinic that’s verified and can offer you the transparent care you deserve.
Because of this, surrogacy success rates are not necessarily accurate. There is also a typical lag of two to three years in data due to the intended parents’ unique treatment timelines. These timelines depend on factors such as:
