The Surrogate Screening Process

Medical Screening
As one of the only programs with in-house physician oversight, Hatch’s intended parents can rest assured knowing they have full transparency to ensure all candidates are medically qualified.

Social screening
We get to know each surrogate in several face-to-face video calls where we focus on getting to know the applicant’s personality and preferences. We’ll also answer any questions to determine if Hatch’s surrogacy program is the right fit.

Relationship screening
Whenever applicable, our surrogate coordinators will talk to potential surrogate’s partner and family to ensure that they’re supportive of the journey. As a family-wide decision, we want to ensure our surrogates have great support systems.

Psychological screening
In the final stage of the screening process, surrogates will undergo a psychological screening to evaluate emotional well-being and identify emotional health issues. Surrogacy can be emotionally difficult, and we want to provide a healthy, happy pregnancy.

Genetic history screening
In this stage, our donors undergo a one-on-one evaluation with a top geneticist to discuss the donor’s family genetic history.

Social screening
Before adding egg donors to our donor list, we get to know each applicant through interviews where we learn about their personal achievements, hobbies, and future plans.

Psychological screening
After donors have been paired with prospective parents, they’ll undergo a psychological screening to evaluate emotional well-being and identify emotional health issues or psychiatric disorders.
